This year’s Tralee Magic Awards Night was a packed house and a powerful reminder of everything that makes our club so special. From U11s to U20s, players, parents, coaches, and supporters came together at the Rose Hotel to celebrate a season of teamwork, growth, and Magic spirit.
The evening was brilliantly MC’d by Paul O’Connor, whose mix of fun, wisdom, and love for the game kept things moving and meaningful.
Every coach who took to the mic echoed the same message: basketball is a team sport, and every player matters. Choosing individual award winners was no easy task—because the real story of the season was the collective effort, the steady grind, and the friendships built along the way.
There was a clear message to those who didn’t walk away with a trophy: don’t let it define your season. Hard-working players always improve. Keep a ball in your hand over the summer, and you’ll give yourself a huge head start for next season.
No one embodied that message more than our U18 MVP, Jonnie Dawson. At U14, Jonnie didn’t make the first team. Fast forward 12 months, and he was the top three-point scorer in the country at the Basketball Ireland All-Ireland Club Competition at U16. A perfect reminder that progress comes from persistence.
The night’s biggest honour, the Brenda Harnett-O’Connell Award, was presented to our U20 Women’s National Cup champions—a team that inspired us all with their belief, resilience, and incredible achievement in bringing a national title home to Tralee.
A huge thank you to the club committee who organised such a wonderful event, to the Rose Hotel for their hospitality, and to Liam Ryan, who was on hand to capture all the special moments. If sharing photos from the night, please make sure to credit Liam for his work.
